Tom landed in Durham after teaching architecture studio at Chiang Mai University in Thailand for two years. While in Thailand, he volunteered with refugee aid groups and developed a keen appetite for spicy cuisine and small motorcycles. Prior to that, he worked for four years on high end residential and urban projects at a large New York firm. Tom earned his Master of Architecture at University of Maryland where he focused on regional architectural studies and won the Dean’s Thesis Prize. His undergraduate studies were in Historic Preservation at the University of Mary Washington.

Tom has traveled to Italy, Greece, Turkey, Ireland, France, England, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, China, Japan, and Costa Rica. Outside the studio, he spends his time with his wife and daughters at the Eno River. Tom is also frequently seen playing boogie-woogie piano out on the streets of Durham.
